  • MICHAEL KHAN | Partner
    Michael Murad Khan is a corporate attorney, business strategist, and entrepreneur. Currently, he serves as the Managing Partner of Khan Johnson LLC, a law firm with offices in New York, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles. He leverages a blend of legal, political, project finance, and business expertise to help clients solve problems, navigate obstacles, achieve growth, and accomplish goals. Michael has experience in a variety of fields and has held various positions with President Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Secretary John Kerry, Vice President Al Gore, and dozens of other federal, state, and local elected officials. He also previously worked for Harvard University's Center for International Development, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, J.P. Morgan, the Brookings Institution, Skadden Arps, and in different areas of the U.S. Government. Michael currently represents influential individuals and entities across a variety of sectors, including governments, industry leaders, private equity funds, hedge/venture capital firms, technology companies, media firms, celebrities, family foundations, pension funds, developers, and government contractors. Michael has developed expertise in corporate strategy, crisis management, complex deal structure, fund management, management consulting, and technological innovation. He has also advised numerous clients on uncovering and structuring public-private partnerships (P3) in the infrastructure and smart cities (IOT) arena. He has previously managed funds and projects totaling more than $12 billion in value.
  • ROBERT JOHNSON | Partner
    Rob is a former DLA Piper alumnus and has held several positions advising political and corporate clients on a variety of legal, contract and financial strategy issues. He has over a decade of legal experience, most recently focusing on all aspects of contract law including work with federal compliance matters and corporate affairs as in-house counsel and as an executive. He has worked with public and private entities where he directly managed bids, bid protests, contract negotiations and disputes, and internal and external audits. He has negotiated the healthcare contract for the system of over 18,000 employees and overseen multiple projects contract negotiations and administrations, including the $24 million Tulip Grove construction. Rob has exposure to and experience with the federal government’s other transactions authority (OTA) and its deployment relative to the $36 billion in construction contracts let by federal agencies in 2018. Rob was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the Juvenile Grants Planning Council within the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention. He has served on the Board of Directors for Innovative Learning, LLC and in 2014 Rob was named to the Baltimore County Spending Affordability Commission and serves as the Vice Chair of the Baltimore County Human Relations Commission. Rob Johnson is a founding partner at Khan Johnson. He heads the practice-group which oversees a variety of government, political and other public sector clients. Rob is also a dedicated public servant and is intimately involved with a variety of pro bono causes, including the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, and serves as counsel to his local church. ​ After college, Rob joined the Young Democrats of Baltimore County, serving as the group’s political director. During the 2006 gubernatorial campaign, he was involved with the O’Malley/Brown campaign in the communications department. In 2007, Rob worked for the Obama for America campaign, traveling to Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina to register voters, canvass door-to-door and help with voter protection efforts. Immediately following the Bar Exam in Maryland, he was hired on as staff for the Obama/Biden 08’ campaign, ultimately managing a field office of over 100 committed volunteers in Ypsilanti, MI. Rob was elected as a Delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention from Baltimore County, pledging his support to then-Senator Barack Obama. Once back in Maryland, Rob served as Field Coordinator for the 10th Legislative District Slate during the 2010 gubernatorial primary cycle, transitioning into the same role for State Sen. Delores Kelley’s re-election bid during the general election. In 2011, Rob was appointed to the Maryland Democratic State Central Committee representing the 10th Legislative District.
  • ANDREW BELOFSKY | Corporate Counsel & Compliance
    For the past 13 years, Andrew has been an outside General Counsel for several entities. He counsels clients on corporate structuring, privacy, employment issues, global finance, protecting IP portfolios, equity structuring, and regulatory compliance. Andrew has handled millions of dollars for fortune 500 companies, has overseen corporate development, issued private placement memoranda, advised on equity distribution structure, and successfully raised capital to bring companies public. He has been leading litigation as it relates to labor and employment, regulatory non-compliance, non-compete and non-circumvent clauses. Andrew’s practice areas include both complex commercial transactions, domestic and foreign clientele, including high-technology firms involved in AI, block chain, and security, private equity firms, financial institutions, channel and supply chain partners, resellers, OEMs and defense contractors. He has published book chapters and articles on federal procurement procedures, alternative contractual vehicles including other type contracts under FAR Part 16, ethics and compliance matters.
  • AGLAIA DAVIS | Litigation & Research
    Aglaia has more than 16 years of experience advising clients and spearheading complex litigation from start to finish in a variety of fields, including IP, patent, employment, class action, etc. She has successfully mastered litigation from pleading stage through discovery, expert witness preparation, motion practice, and trial. Aglaia has significant experience arguing complaints, motions, oppositions, trial, and appellate briefs. She has saved clients from costly fees and penalties because she commonly performs in-depth research and analysis of novel and commonplace legal issues.
  • BARUCH GOTTESMAN | Corporate Organization & Management
    For over a decade, Baruch has helped a wide variety of corporate clients to address all aspects of organization, management and compliance for their Not-for-Profits, Private Foundations and privately held companies. He has also addressed corporate issues with respect to control of the board, investors' rights, and consumer protection (including class actions). Baruch has particular expertise in the aspects of international law, including overseas corps., trusts, and other asset protection vehicles - and service to bring foreign entities into American courts.
  • SAM KANUPP | Labor & Employment Law
    Sam Kanupp is a Board-Certified Specialist in the area of Labor and Employment law. Sam is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Sam’s experience includes representing employees in cases involving sexual harassment and discrimination based on gender, pregnancy, age, race, national origin, disability, and religion. He also has experience representing employees in cases involving family and medical leave, unpaid wages, and overtime claims under the FLSA, covenants not to compete, trade secrets, employment contracts, whistle-blower retaliation, FMLA retaliation and interference, workers’ compensation retaliation, and other aspects of labor and employment law, including federal sector EEO cases as well as unemployment compensation hearings and appeals.
  • MATTHEW KOZIK | Litigation & Immigration
    For several years, Matt was a member of the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. As an active-duty Army Judge Advocate stationed all around the world, Matt earned distinguished military awards such as the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Parachutist Badge. During his time on active duty, Matt served as a trial attorney in some of the Army’s busiest criminal jurisdictions, litigating countless cases involving drugs, rape, sex assault, domestic violence, and financial crimes, achieving favorable outcomes as both a prosecutor and defense. After leaving active duty, Matt utilized years of leadership and litigation experience and is focused on providing quality representation in complex litigation cases and immigration cases. Matt has continually advised individuals and corporations on recruiting and the best strategies to implement internally as they relate to employment and immigration policies and procedures.
